There a couple ways to do this. First of all you need to login as the adminstrator, you cannot change your own access to a higher level from your account. I am afraid that if you do not have the password for the administrator then there is little that can done to continue.

Now, open the control panel and then open Users and Passwords. Once this opens click on your username then click the Properties button. In the properties window that opens up click on the Group Membership tab. Almost done now. Now select the "Other" radio button and choose Administrators from the drop down. Click on the OK button to close the properties window then click the OK button on the Users and Passwords window to effect the change. Now login as yourself and try the solution from the original post.

I hope this works for you, I certainly understand how frustrating this can be.

Thankyou very much! I have Error 1706 and I find it really horrible and annoying-all my saved documents just go. I would really like to get rid of it but how do I join the administrators group? Please leave a reply.
